Omni Disk Mac

After a public beta evaluation, developer The Omni Group has released OmniDiskSweeper 1.0, the final release of its disk utility software for Mac OS X.

The Omni Group bills OmniDiskSweeper as a utility for finding and deleting “big, useless files and thus making space on your hard disks.” The software highlights the biggest files on your disk and notes which ones are used by the system, to help users avoid deleting necessary files.

Disk Drill is actually a data recovery software first and a Mac file cleaner second, but that doesn’t stop it from ranking high on our list of the top 10 best free Mac cleaners. That’s because it comes with a truly unlimited free cleanup module that makes it possible to easily identify and visualize all files that are taking up a lot of. I ran omni disk sweeper and now my mac won't start up okay so I was trying to free up some space in my mac and I accidentally deleted some files which I can't quite recall (except for one labeled dbz).

OmniDiskSweeper is distributed as shareware. The software costs US$15 to register. Once registered, a “delete” button is activated that enables you to excise those “big, useless files” from your hard disk from within the application itself.

The Omni Group has developed a number of useful native software applications for OS X including OmniWeb, its own Web browser. More details are available from The Omni Group’s Web site.

OmniDiskSweeper 1.12 is our free app for finding disk space on your Mac — and we just updated it for Catalina (macOS 10.15)!

It shows you everything on your hard drive, ranked by size, so you can see which files and folders are taking up a lot of space — which helps you figure out what you can delete, or move somewhere else, so you can free up disk space.

The updates for Catalina include a Dark Mode About Panel, fixed handling of Catalina volumes, and removal of an unneeded notification.

But do note that Catalina will ask for permissions for OmniDiskSweeper to access various things — it might ask, for instance, if it can access your contacts. This is because it’s looking at the sizes of all your files, which includes the files that contain your contacts.

But it’s not actually reading your contacts, files in your Documents folder, and so on — it’s just looking at file sizes.
